Most
town and country planning and development control issues are dealt
with under delegated powers by the development manager, in
consultation with the chairman or vice-chairman of the planning
committee. A matter will be referred to the full committee for
consideration for a number of reasons, for example where the matter
is considered to be more contentious.
The
planning committee can refer a planning application for site
inspection committee before determination. The committee will
then visit the site before considering a decision at the next
available meeting.
Full
details of the responsibilities of the committee are set out
in the
constitution.
As
part of the council's aim to demonstrate the transparency of
decision making, the public have the opportunity to speak directly
to the planning committee. This means that you can come and
put your point of view, either for or against a planning proposal,
directly to the committee determining the application.
