Broadband provision in rural areas - Presentation by Gigaclear

At its meeting on 22nd March 2018, the Scrutiny Committee discussed Broadband issues in rural areas (Minute 37, Broadband update refers) and made three recommendations to Cabinet.  When it met next on 2nd May, Cabinet considered the recommendations (Minute 216, Minutes of the Scrutiny Committee held on 22 March 2018 refers) and resolved that all of the recommendations be agreed.

At its meeting on 4th October 2018 (Minute 27, Itemfor information – Broadband in rural areas refers) Members considered progress on asking the Diocese for their continued support in using church premises to provide the infrastructure necessary for a Broadband solution for rural parishes. The Diocese were actively engaged in enabling rural broadband provision via approving use of church buildings to host equipment and had already approved the use of nine church buildings to host equipment in East Devon. This had been achieved via the CDS programme rollout to date.
